He was celebrating two occasions - his wife's latest pregnancy and the scoring of a winning goal - with a night out in the West End.

King was repeatedly "cold-shouldered" by women in the bar, the court heard, and lost his temper.

A moment of "completely gratuitous violence" led to him "smashing" the victim to the floor, jurors were told.

Two other people standing beside King were also knocked away as a result of the force of the blow he inflicted.

Several witnesses testified that King was responsible, despite his denial, including a football coach who insisted the 29-year-old Jamaican international was the assailant.

Coward,hitting a woman. Footballers get let off big time, for sex assault is one thing but then hitting a WOMAN.
Pisses me off that theres people out there like that crap.
He"ll do what? 9 months. he should get say the woman as a brother then get permission to go beat the s... out of him sorry but thats what he deserves and jailed for atleast 3years.not 9months.
But instead he"ll be out in 9months and back in football earning money... its a joke!

Totally agree but also 'He was celebrating his wife's latest pregnancy'-hopefully he's now lost his wife too (how is groping another woman celebrating your WIFE's pregnancy?!)

I know crap aint it, i dont think he as lost his wife though, sure she was with him yesterday when arriving...

This below frustrates me more the shit is gonna appeal and still thinks hes got a future in the game, now this is why its a joke he should be band from football, imagine one of us did that we would be sacked from our job (wigan was right) and then find it hard to find any work when we come out, this shit will be out in 9months and i guarantee some lower league club maybe championship will sign him, so he doesnt suffer like the normal human. is that right?

Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has revealed King will be sacked by the club once a mandatory notice period has expired.

Tony Finnigan has indicated King plans to appeal against his conviction and he is "110 per cent" confident King will find another club if Wigan carry out their decision to sack him.

Finnigan told Sky Sports News: "Why shouldn't he be given a chance. Football is rehabilitation, people fall down and make mistakes.

"I am not here to play judge and jury on Marlon King I am just saying why shouldn't he have the oppprtunity to resume his playing career if someone wants to take him on board."

Asked if another club would take King on board, Finnigan replied: "100 per cent, 110 per cent.

"He's employed in football to score goals. Anyone who's played with Marlon King will tell you he's a great professional.

"When he trains he works hard, he's a leader and he's a winner, and he scores goals - he's good at it."

"If he fails again he'll go and suffer the consequences."

Finnigan also blasted the Professional Footballers' Association for not showing enough support for King.

"I thought Bobby Barnes' comments were out of order," continued Finnigan.

"I thought Bobby should have been alongside him at the court to see how it developed during the week."

He added: "What's the union there for? To support their members. Why wouldn't they support him? They're supporting other players."

People make mistakes yes we all do, but there is no excuse for any sexual assault and even worse HITTING A WOMAN breaking her nose.

Isn't the idea of rehabilitation about serving your punishment,being generally sorry and turning a new leaf? NOT appealing to get off scot free and walking into another job and another paycheck!
